For fans of Lorde, Ashe & Jeremy Zucker
“Filled with lots of nostalgia, filled with childhood friends, I love the way it builds!”
selfish side of the road
Rising alt-pop star Lorana is back with a new project. Next single ‘selfish side of the road’ is due for release on the 14th of June. Lorana showcases her personal growth with an open song about jealousy and the fear of losing her friends.
The release of ‘selfish side of the road’ sees Lorana nearing completion of her upcoming EP, which is scheduled for the summer. This track came to life with the help of her close friend Jules Koniezcny (JVKE, Myles Smith, Tom Grennan, Alfie Jukes, …), who is becoming a staple as her co-producer.
Following Lorana’s US visit with packed-out shows in both NYC and LA, she recently supported Milo Meskens on his club tour through Belgium and The Netherlands and Lea G & Bea Stewart on their London headline shows.
My music explained in pretty words:
Lorana’s songs encapsulate a wise innocence that feels both refreshing and intriguing. She makes quirky pop that tells honest and vulnerable stories, inspired by artists like Lorde, Ashe and Jeremy Zucker. After the success of her previous work, Lorana’s coming back with more. The next batch of songs is even more captivating, with a sound that’s constantly evolving and lyrics about friendship and love.
Like a breath of fresh air, Lorana portrays her artistic growth like never before.
Lorana on
‘selfish side of the road’
“Of all the songs I’ve released so far this one scares me the most. The topic of jealousy is just a little ungraceful and ugly, but oh so important to talk about. We all feel it from time to time but somehow attach a lot of shame to it. With the release of ‘selfish side of the road’, I hope we can start talking about this confusing push and pull within friendships more openly. I believe that when we learn to admit our flaws to one another, we can grow closer together.”
Lorana is building a fascinating world around her music. Her debut and sophomore EPs, ‘Here In Between’ and ‘The Edge Of Real’, were met with critical acclaim, and her songs have accumulated over 600,000 streams and 2.5 million views on social media. This led to sold-out headline shows in London and Belgium last year.
BBC Introducing London, Studio Brussels, NRJ radio, and Radio 2 Belgium all jumped on board, and she secured Spotify playlists like Fresh Finds: Pop & New Music Friday Belgium. Her meaningful stories were then happily picked up and written about in publications like Atwood Magazine, Knack Focus, and Enfnts Terribles.
This next cycle is off to a great start with the first single ‘wild west’ being well received by Spotify, Apply Music and Radio 2 (Belgium). Even though her sound continually develops and evolves, her sensational songwriting and alluring vocals still remain firmly at the core of Lorana’s work. Partly due to her frank lyricism, Lorana’s music means to be unceasingly comforting while still proving to be refreshingly innovative.
